Fast Track Triage & Emergencies
At Carberry Vet Clinic, we understand how stressful it can be when your pet suddenly becomes ill or injured. Our goal is to help you recognize when your pet’s condition requires urgent, same-day care, and to guide you on what to do if it happens outside our regular hours.
If you believe your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, please call us right away so we can help assess the situation and prepare for your arrival.
When to Seek Immediate Veterinary Attention
The following signs and symptoms are considered urgent medical emergencies and require immediate care:

Difficulty breathing

Unable to urinate — especially male cats

Bloat / GDV (swollen, painful abdomen, unproductive retching)

Active seizures or repeated seizure activity

Choking
-
Collapse or unresponsiveness

Major trauma (hit by a car, animal attack, fall, etc.)

Possible poisoning (rat bait, chocolate, toxic plants, human medications, etc.)

Allergic reaction (facial swelling, hives, sudden itching)

Heatstroke or overheating
-
Hypothermia (low body temperature)

Excessive or uncontrolled bleeding
-
Penetrating bite wounds (especially to the neck or chest area)
